The Frog (my nickname for the Miata) has to have a green valve cover. But I'm not taking the nasty oxidized one off during the install, so it'll have to wait.

I was thinking about painting this on the inside of the trunk. I call it the Frog because it's green and it wants to jump.

+1 on Scott and Jay's comments.

If it's in the budget, since you are swapping the pans on a stand, consider replacing the oil pump. It's literally low-hanging fruit at that point.

Understand this concept, but always wondered how an oil pump wears out.

    Re: Motor replacement

If I'm not mistaking, must oil pump failures are from the gears breaking. Maybe heat and stress fatigue? Not taking the front of the motor off, for now anyway.
