Are these the ones that have low temp melt rings in the middle? When I was doing marine I used heat shrink tubing with glue in it. That seem to seal the connectors pretty well. I also used some of that tubing when the D***** d squirrels chewed up some vacuum hoses. Truck has been running fine for well over a year with that "temp" fix.

Yep. I have a small supply of those in my car electronics drawer and they are great.

I get mine from Amazon though: https://smile.amazon.com/Kuject-Conn...8-2-spons&th=1

Those are all I use anymore on vital wire harness connections in my own vehicles. Itís all Iíve used on racecars Iíve worked on the last decade.

Thought I'd update this thread. I used these on some of my connections on the lanai. After 18 months or so I had two fo these fail. Looked like the ends sealed nicely but the "solder" disintegrate and the connection failed - corrosion? I will keep an eye on the couple other places I used these. They might not be the easy fix after all.

That’s odd. I use these exclusively for automotive connections and they’ve never failed. I wonder if the Chinese have invented a solder so cheap, it dissolves. It should be 60% tin, 40% lead.

I am thinking it is some alloy that has a relatively low melting point since you only use a standard heat gun to melt the "solder".
