    Suspension/Steering Overhaul Phase 2 2018-2019

OK, planning my continuing overhaul of suspension drive train once the cooler weather gets here. Last winter I replaced my rear upper and lower control arm bushings, differential mounts, differential vent, rear wheel bearings, axle seals, differential seals, and axles. In the spring/summer I replaced my front wheel bearings and fuel pump before leaving for Miatas in Boone because I did not want to do some hard driving with original critical parts. Upon my return, I replaced a failed starter motor and radiator fan motor assembly.

This cool weather season I will be replacing the lower ball joints, tie rod ends, and front upper and lower control arm bushings and shock bump stops. When I did the rear suspension/drive train work I noticed the bumps stops were in bad worn out shape. They were spec.-ed units (36mm front/46mm rear) from Fat Cat Motorsports for my Bilstein/Eibach/Ground Control suspension set up I purchased from Ground Control about 6 years ago. I did want to stop the overhaul and planned on replacing front and rear units this winter. I priced them out and will be ordering as soon as the Supreme Commander/CFO authorizes purchase.

Will order the bump stops first and get the rears done first.

If I can swing it, a set of frame rails (Garage Star) and a drive shaft (949 Racing) will be included in this years project also. Frame rails are a little damaged from previous owner and I figured universals on 175,000 mile driveshaft are due for replacement. Stay tuned.

We’re getting closer to good car work weather. It should cool down to 95 hopefully around Christmas.

Lets get your car done before it becomes a barn find.
