That’s a hell of a job to do by yourself!

Miata tops are far easier than a Sebring or Mustang. You have to guess at position and staple the backside down. You can't tell if you got it right until much later in the install process. Then it's take it apart and do it again. PITA.

    Re: Top replacement

This is a pic just after I washed it. It's still wet. The factory waterproofing seems to have disappeared after 6 years in a box. I'll have to get some more Aerospace Fabric Guard and retreat it. It looks to me that the rearmost bow has to come back a little. In a few more days I'll be able to open and close it by myself, I hope. I can adjust the latches and bow then. HUGE wind noise with the latches opened all the way out!

Confused. What do you mean "Latches opened all the way out" causing wind noise. BTW well done!

Thanks. In order to get the top closed it was necessary to open the latch adjustment all the way out, giving me an extra quarter inch. In a few days, when the canvas stretches I can set them properly and get rid of the air leak.

I think that’s the part people often miss. You have to stretch and adjust a couple, few times after a new top install.

Looks good Joe! I have used 303 products for waterproofing canvas in the past and it works well.

Looking good. I agree the rear bow needs to come back some and I think that'll loosen the rest of the top up a bit.

Great job, Joe, I've noticed that my top shows signs of needing water proofing now that it is almost 4 years old.

    Re: Top replacement

I applied 303 fabric guard to repel water and stained my new damn top. I must have put too much on. The overlaps are darker. Pretty pissed. I've never had fabric guard do this.
