    Square Top Intake Manifold

I'm still in the market for a square top intake manifold. If you have one taking up some space, let me know.

On a proper build, they are said to be worth 5 to 7 whp. Not too shabby for a Miata

    $800 from Planet Miata.

    Miata Roadster $700.

That looks like about $100 per horsepower. I little high in my book but at some point there's not much else you can do to squeeze any more power out of these engines when normally aspirated.

I would think a little massaging of material to match head and delete of VTCS (on 01+ plus manifold) might net you similar results throughout the rpm range. I understand the VTCS delete will required an adjustment of fuel & timing. Reportedly 5-10 hp increase available in top end but loss of hp in 4000 rpm range with this setup. Port matching might negate some of the hp loss. End result is the butterflies block flow when left in.

On 99-00 manifold the VICS manifold seems to work correctly my keeping low and mid range torque as high as possible. A little polishing here couldn't hurt.

    .
Adjustment on fuel means about $900.00 minimum to 3,000.00 depending on how crazy you want to go with the capabilities of the ecu.

Yata has the skills to build a DIY from the scratch kit for maybe $600.00............. ......then comes 100.00 and hour for dyno time and about $100.00 an hour for the tuner ( unless you know a guy who knows a guy )

The flat top is the cherry on top for a built motor. OR . It's a nice touch for the aesthetically pleasing crowd, it can be sanded and buffed to a nice satin finish or can be painted like a cam cover.

Yes, but it had Yata scum on it. On a more serious note, I have no clue why that danged thing didn't sell for the price you asked. I mentioned it to three Miata motor builders.
