    Spark plugs wires

My car is breaking up under hard acceleration. I'm pretty sure I need new wires. The ones I have are stock and ancient. I can't believe that they get just about the same money for my two wire kit as the four wire ones. I'm inclined to buy NGKs as they are third the price of magnacores. Is it worth the extra bucks for the magnacores. I'm just using the stock two coil ignition. Do I need to buy new boots, that go from the wire/coil plug as well?

NGK wires are what we use at the shop

but you might be losing a coil - VVT coils are not the most robust ones out there.

start with the wires, if the problem continues it might be time for a set of coils

    Re: Spark plugs wires

Are you running cheap ngk bkr7e plugs that most boosted guys run? They work great, but don't last long, I usually change mine when I change the oil.

Narrowing the plug gap should help as well, but that's more of a bandaid approach for weak ignition. Before you buy wires, I'd look into a coil on plug conversion and weigh the options. They will get rid of relatively weak wires and coil packs. Like Jay said, theres a chance you throw wires at it and find out you need coils too.

    Re: Spark plugs wires

I guess I'll get a $40 pair of NGK blues. If I still have issues, I think I have a pair of stock coils laying around. I'll look into a coil over setup. I see Force Flow has a LS coil kit, but it's expensive and only fits NB1 without carving. I know Fab9 makes another expensive kit, but have no idea how powerful a spark it has. The Toyota cops is pretty well documented, but I'm not into hacking into the wiring harness. I'll keep looking.

That's a pretty setup. Do you have the dwell settings for the MS?

Still investigating… but found this so far:

https://motorsport-electronics.co.uk...n-plug-install (some wiring schemas depending on type of cops and model of your miata).

https://www.gfbdevelopments.co.uk/MX...kit-p237042104 (some pics from the product shows the wiring setup).

    And from Miataturbo:

I love that Audi setup. That aluminum mounting plate looks good too.

    Re: Spark plugs wires

I got the NGK blue wires on Monday. Put them on and no more breaking up.
