I'm really liking the new Ford Maverick

Hybrid, 40mpg, 500mi range, crew cab, towing, 6ft bed, under $20K. Now that the F150 is the size of a battleship, the new Maverick is a small F150 of yesteryear but with all the goodies of today:

Of course, I'm old enough to remember the original Ford Maverick and it looks nothing like the new one.

I prefer the old version ... the original one.

By the way, have you seen the new Opel Manta?

I used to have an Opel Kadett. A white wagon with a four speed. But back to the Maverick. I can't believe that it's taking this long for the car companies to recognize that there is a huge market for mini trucks. I think you'll be seeing more like this in the future.
2001 SE British Racing Green - FM frame rails - FM solid sway bar - FM clutch- Mishimoto 53mm radiator - Bilsteins -
Complete MK Turbo kit with intercooler - 3'' custom exhaust - Custom door panels - Custom "shorty" console

it looks like the honda pick up - which is just a honda minivan with a truck bed

I wonder if this is based on the ford edge SUV cross over thingy

Re: I'm really liking the new Ford Maverick

It wouldn't be unusual for a car maker to use one platform for multiple models. The Ford Explorer SUV and Ranger pickup shared the same basic design as did the Excursion SUV and F150 pickup.

Mini trucks have been around since the 70s and really gained popularity in the 80s-90s then suddenly disappeared. In the 70s, my patents had a small, orange Toyota pickup with a bench seat. Of course I had to sit in the middle and be careful of my legs while my dad shifted gears haha.

I'm curious why Ford revived the Maverick name rather than the Courier which was a well-kovee small pickup.

I like it a lot. I hate that all trucks have gotten gigantic now, even a ranger is a big truck now.
