    3 Minute Headlight Restoration

This got all good reviews. What do you think? Willing to try it. My headlights are not that bad but are showing signs of clouding..

I will try it on my pick-up. Just need to get another gallon of acetone, used up the last I had cleaning the "new" pinball machine.

It does work, but can leave streaks. Work quickly with the acetone.

This is not going to work for me. The glaze/damage is on the inside. Had to change the lamp in the fixture and I turned it on and saw this krinkly texture on the inside. Researched it and it is the breakdown of the UV inhibitor on the inside of the fixture most likely caused by heat. Luckily I have a spare set I can clean up although it has a broken tab I have to fix.

I might give this a shot. My lights look rough.

    Re: 3 Minute Headlight Restoration

I wish I had learned about this before I bought that headlight restoration kit a while back. Don't get me wrong, the kit did a fine job, but it took a lot of elbow grease to make it happen. Two grits of sandpaper and a polishing cloth and it still looked hazy. Up until the magic lotion was applied. I don't know what was in that fluid, but I'm thinking the same stuff that's in that video. Or close to it. As soon as I put it on it suddenly became crystal clear. I thought the kit would have had enough sandpaper and polishing compound to do two cars, my wife's Mazda6 and the Miata, but I had to make another trip to the auto parts store for another kit. That one did not include the magic lotion, but I had enough from the first kit to do that 2nd car. Both cars came out looking great.

According to that video, once that protective clearcoat is removed we'll have to do this every year or so. Maybe I'll give this method a shot next time. Seems like a lot less elbow grease required. ;-)

    Re: 3 Minute Headlight Restoration

I know a company on the west coast was considering making replacement lenses, but I havenít heard anything in over a year.

I am probably going to switch over to NB2 headlights and bumper for the availability of headlights.

The other option will be to buy another set on NB1 headlights, bake them to remove the lenses and restore them inside out.

I have an extra set of 99-00 headlights that need a little cleaning up that I pulled down from the attic which I will swap out at my leisure. The NB2 lights and nose option is a long term option but an aftermarket set of lenses would be nice.

I remember reading something about baking the headlights to separate the lenses to restore them, but don't know the procedure. References?

A young guy in a local club has a set of headlights on his 00 that look brand new. Ask him where he got them and he said that they were on the car when he bought them. Not sure they are available new anymore. Will have to do some research.
