    Door Pulls

My door pulls are discolored so I am thinking about getting these. Black or tan? Wife likes the black ones.

    I think Paul has these.

Instructions on how to install them.

I've always had good luck with Duplicolor Trim paint for black Miata parts but since it's a wear part, I think the combination of black trim paint and sewn, leather sleeves would look outstanding.

I used redline for all my leather except the seats. I didn't do the door pulls I switched to the fold down retro MG ones. Reline does nice work, the sewing is actually done in Poland, not Delaware where their address is. Took about 10 days to get my stuff. Fairly quick.

    Re: Door Pulls

I actually got started on the pulls this morning. Finally got some warm sunshine & the glue they recommended on the web site. Instead of contact cement the write up used Automotive Goop. I've used Marine Goop before and it's good stuff, probably the same thing in a different color tube. What is nice with Goop is you can lay the leather out and stretch it stretch it into place. With the 77 contact cement you are pretty much done once the leather hits the surface. Gets the pucker factor up there.

I scuffed the surfaces up and wiped it all down with acetone.

I then put out a layer of Goop on the front surface, right up to the curve. slide the leather into the best fit/alignment. Then used clothes pins and dive weights to hold that surface in place. THis afternoon I should be able to get the sides and tomorrow the back.

I bet they’re going to look great. How long to cure?

They said 2 hours before you can go to the next surface, call me paranoid, I'll probably do at least 4

Looks great! I don't have the patience and skills working with leather, upholstery and anything that uses glue. I got the right guy doing it for me.
