Residential areas are not zoned for that and you would never get a permit. Then there is your insurance company who would drop you like a rock and/or not pay a claim on something related to a gasoline tank of that size on your property.

John Denver, wanted to install a large underground fuel tank on his 1000 acre Ranch, applying for a county, State and EPA permits. He was denied, by the county, State of Colorado and EPA. It was 1972 when we had gas shortages and feds where accusing him of hording and EPA cited it was a potential hazard of environment damage.

I had to look up propane tank sizes for reference. I only have been around them in rural areas.

Propane, not gasoline. The most gasoline I’d ever store would be 30 gallons in separate plastic tanks, only in the open lanai out back and only if a Cat. 4 hurricane were eminent. That would provide six days of generator.

I enjoyed cooking with gas in California, natural gas is supplied by the states Utility company “Pacific Gas & Electricty”.
When I moved to Florida I discovered that if I wanted a gas stove, I would have to install a propane system from a
propane company and sign a contract with a local propane company, and a propane burning stoves where more expensive and require maintenance. I bought a full size propane grill, but it didn’t bake very well, I ended up smoking up the lanai and the humid summer rains rusted out the burners.

We have an electric cooktop, I don't like it. If we remodel, I'm switching it over. Our furnace is gas, as is the H2O tank.

The problem with propane is that pricing is very volatile for larger volume users since it is a petroleum based product. My father had a home using propane and prices went up so fast within season due to supply and demand and could barely afford to heat his home.
