    Civic Easter egg

I've been cleaning up my Civic in preparation for a possible trade-in and while washing the rubber liner from the bottom of the center console, I discovered an Easter egg on the underside!

    Very cool, Honda! Very cool.

    P.S. I'm keeping it too.

Is it a pre-owned car? Thought it was new.

Preened car? It was new. Apparently, there were four designs hidden in EX trim levels and above. It’s just cool that Honda would do this.

    Re: Civic Easter egg

    That's a cool find.

What's going on with the Civic? I know you change cars as often as underwear, but I you have the newer turbo model right? Those things seem like such a homerun commuter wise. Decent power, great mileage, cheap gas, comfortable... I'm curious why you're thinking of moving on to something else.

I'd love to have one, just can't justify paying for a new-ish car that's going to take such a depreciation hit over a few years. Plus I can't leave anything alone, I'll ruin it and make it worth even less. They're definitely at the top of my "5 years from now" daily driver list.

    Re: Civic Easter egg

The Civic is an excellent car and a real pleasure. It’s zippy with the turbo and bigger and more comfortable than our last Accord plus 40mpg efficiency, super quiet cabin and not a single rattle anywhere. I especially like the electronic “brake hold” so when you stop at a red light, it’ll apply the brakes so you don’t sit there with your foot on the brake pedal.

It all just comes down to money and the things I’ve been doing to save it. Mom’s presciptions have gone up a lot plus home health aides more often is making me make some financial changes to make things more affordable. I got rid of $175/mo. cable and now have $20/mo. Direct TV Now, for example. I moved some debt from one high-interest credit card to a 0% for 15 months card. So along with cutting cable, cellular and insurance expenses, the Civic is next.

It costs $335/mo to lease (36 months) plus $56/mo to insure (more than a Corvette!) and in the end, I’ll have nothing to show for it. Now I want a less expensive car to buy under longer term financing so I’m looking at Honda Fit, Ford Fusion and Fiesta hatchbacks. I’m looking for 2016+ because that’s what banks will finance and there will be some factory warranty left. I don’t want a $5K clunker I can’t trust or that I’ll have to spend money on. I just want to get in the car and go, reliably.

Had a 2002 Nissan Maxima with a 5-speed manual that I bought new. What I would not give for another one of those. A family car and hot rod all in one. You can still get a new Honda Accord with a 6 speed manual, but try to find one.

    Re: Civic Easter egg

When Honda lost Accord sales to Toyota's Camry, they began making the Accord larger and more up scale, so much that they made the Civic model more like the old accord with many of the features of the old Accord.

    Re: Civic Easter egg

I'm surprised about that since I'd rather chew razor blades than drive a Camry. It just reminds me of a 1990's Ford Topaz. I do agree with you on the size comparison though. Nowadays, the Civic and Accord nearly occupy the same tier with some Civics even costing more. Time to make an entry-level, sub $10K car that's not embarrassing.
