    Racing stripes? (Corvette)

I’ve always thought racing stripes looked cool if done well on some cars. Been thinking about mine lately and rather like white on red.

I found two different examples online:

This one is a single stripe:

This one is a double-stripe I think I like better. Please disregard the fender stripes as they are way too much!

If I did this, it would be in vinyl rather than painted but I’m unsure about what quality of vinyl to look for or how it would hold up to washing and waxing the car.

    What do you guys think?

If you are determined to put a racing stripe a single stripe down the center, If it were my car I prefer a gold or black stripe. A white stripe is to common and devides the car, verses black or gold is more of an accent and blends better with the red of your car.

Like it. I have been talked out of stripes for my car twice.

I'll agree with Mario on the gold stripe

I’m pretty sure gold would not work for me but goes great on Paul’s. Heck gold would look great on MM’s as well. With mine though, it would either have to be black or white.

The devil is in the details. I personally believe stripes can be too narrow and/or too far apart like here:

whereas wider stripes closer together look best for me:

I'd vote to leave it alone. I'm not particularly a fan anyway, and like you said it seems like they're easy to goof up (too narrow, too far apart, etc) and look weird.

I did like the 2nd vette in your original post though, with 2 stripes. Overall, it just doesn't seem worth the effort to me.

The first example the the stripes are too far apart, in the second example the stripes are too wide and the thin outer stripes distract. IMHO, the stripes should match the width of the air scoop, There is no right or wrong way to add stripes, it is all a matter of personal preferences.

Well, vinyl would be removable if I got bored later but right now, my car feels like a-dime-a-dozen. I see Vettes here every day but none with stripes. A see a few Mustangs with stripes and they look badass. I know it’s a little outlandish but it feels like it would be so much fun to stand out a little.

I have no air scoop on my hood so no worries about that. I do have a center bump that would have to be taken into account. I disagree with the outer accent lines being a distraction. I think they really set off the look instead of two plain stripes.

Like I said though, a single stripe can look good too if done right
