    Psycho25 Formula 1 @ Austin TX, Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 - BBQ at AO/YYs

It’s that time of the year again. Formula 1 racing arrives in North America, more specifically, Austin, Texas on Sunday, October 22, 2017 with only four races left in the year.

All Gearheads, spouses and mini gearheads are invited to AO’s house for a Gearhead Formula 1 BBQ/pot luck sponsored by AO, Smileyface and D-Rail. Race starts at 3pm local time but we’ll be getting together at noon to prep and imbibe.

Bean and cheese dips with super-thin Cantina chips available upon arrival at noon and AO’s world-famous, smoked wings and brats and for the first time: D-Rail’s mouth-watering, vinegar-and-salt chicken legs will be done right about race start.

RSVP is a must so we’re not caught off guard without enough supplies.

Menu: Cantina chips with gourmet bean and cheese dips, Amish potato and macaroni salads, smoked wings, grilled salt/vinegar legs, brats, chorizos, Korean BBQ’d pork strips, smoked onions and jalapeos, Coronas.

    Just to start:
    AO
    D-Rail
    Smileyface
Joe Morreale (thanks for making the trek!)
MinuteMan (hopefully pit stop on his way out of town)

I had fun at the bbq. Sorry I couldn't stay to see the whole race. I let Minuteman drive my car to reignite the FI bug inside him. Food was delicious and plentiful. I got home about a half hour after dark. Friggin critters on the damn road. Dodged a deer and a pig near Zolfo Springs. Nothing too close, just some hard braking. Real happy to have my halogen lights for that extra visibility.

Near home I came up on a WRX with a loud exhaust. We played in traffic a little before we had the opportunity to line up at a light. He launched first and we raced to about 120mph, top of 5th gear. I got my ass spanked by nearly a hundred yards. I hope it was a turbo car and mine's not that slow. Did a 5th gear roll out from 45mph with similar results. I definitely don't have a pdexta car.

ID:	2170Very happy you came down, Joe. Sorry we got a late start on the race but the real fun was hanging around outside by the smoker with some good tunes and socializing with all that great food. Man that was delicious! D-Rail’s salt and vinegar drumsticks were a hit and just melted in the mouth when coming right off the grill and those grilled veggies were great!

Thanks for all the help from Mario and D-rail getting things going. I think Mario is going to be in charge of the clock next time so we can eat earlier, heh heh. Oh, thanks for the beer Mario. What the heck is in a Corona Extra? Because after a few of those, I was buzzed as hell! Sure made the food taste even better when we ravaged that second rack of wings. We were devouring those right off the tray like cavemen. I’m glad you guys got some good take-home and that my fridge isn’t full of leftovers I couldn’t possibly finish.

The race very good, even to the last lap! Very exciting. Fun to tease Mario about Rosberg too. I won’t say anything about the results since some didn’t get to stick around to the finish.

Thanks again guys for another great BBQ and we’ll see you next time!

Yes! A double yes, this event was the best of this years F1 BBQ. I enjoyed myself immensely, with the best of friends, Miata drivers and race fans we ate, drank and talked about GearHead interests. Alex and I are the GearHead Odd Couple, the Laurel & Hardy, the Mutt & Jeff characters, who will jab and tease each other all in fun. When no one is looking, we usually agree on who is the best F1 drive and who will win the championship.

Corona (Extra) is one of those Mexican beers that goes down smoothly, is great in hot weather and complements grilled, smoked foods. A good day with good people, food, beer and an exiting race made me glad to be alive.

Always better to friends get together with good food than the actual race.

I value friends as well the company of friends, when it comes F1, it is my primary interest. I’m just lucky that I have friends who share that interest. If I had to choose between the two things I would be watching F1 alone.

I wish you guys were up for another meet tomorrow. Would have been cool to make tacos and grill fajitas to Formula 1, Mexico.
