Thanks for the encouragement guys. I've seen a few harnesses for sale around $70, so that's probably worth a shot.

    Dash is out now!

Can you run another miata on a base map with your ms?
Can you be done with it? Would you get another miata or go a different direction.
Sometimes I get tempted to sell and keep my motor to swap into another build. Would love to run vvt with an efr. Lol. I won’t though. If it’s the harness will you look back at all and say I should have or just be enjoying you car.
If I got another 99-00 car my first thing to try was going to be swapping the megasquirt. That'd be relatively easy to do and would absolutely confirm that the MS isn't the problem.

I've considered a bunch of possibilities:
Parts car to swap parts around until mine works
Partout and go to a different platform
Partout and start over with an n/a build (6 speed, 4.30 torsen, suspension)
Buy another NB and swap over all the aftermarket parts
Partout and go back to just having 2 cars (0 miatas)

Hopefully I can get this car working so I don't have to do any of those.

call up wes at treasure coast or call redline.

I have seen interesting things happen at the race shop and the usual fix is to swap the dash, body and engine harness.

I even saw one car pick up 4 hp and 4 ft lbs tq from just a harness swap.... wrap your head around that!

btw, pull the shifter out of the trans before pulling the dash. It will give you a lot more room to work and a few less things to curse at.
That's reassuring. Sure hope this takes care of it.

Have a friend that is currently in Tennessee. Says it is as hot as Florida. Hope it's cooler in your neck of the woods to make it easier to find the problem. i know wiring problems suck. Good luck finding it.

Thanks. I think the whole south is getting blasted with heat right now. A little over a week ago we were down in the mid/low 40's at night, with highs in the 60's. But the last week has been hot. I don't know if it's Florida hot, but it's warm for sure.

Personal experiences swapping harnesses have been very good. Itís like ripping off a bandaid.

Best suggestion is watch where the harness attaches near moving parts, like the pedal box. I nicked a wire with the clutch pedal after doing one because I didnít pull the new harness up high enough when reinstalling. Easy fix, aggravating though. I also upgraded the grounding system with heavier, braided straps from Summit or Jegs. Two in the engine bay, one in the PPF.

    Wishing the best of luck!

You're into it deep. I certainly hope this solves your problem. Good luck. Wiring, to me, is like a nightmare from hell.

I ordered a used harness today. I didn't see any issues with my current one, but figured it was worth a shot. I'm scared it's going to break me if I put this thing back together and it keeps doing the same thing.

I know you will find the problem and if the used harness cures the problem then you made the right choice and saved yourself many hours of hard work.

Got the new harness trimmed down a bit and swapped in. Still a lot to reassemble, but the car started on the new harness so that was a small win at least. I also got a ballenger cam sensor and clip. Hopefully I can find this damn issue.

I appreciate the update..... just take your time and make certain that the harness is tucked in properly to avoid chafing
