RedMiata25 Road Trip to Nowhere: Jan. 23 2016

Ok, I have missed the Boone MIB event for two years in a row and I am in the mood for a road trip. We are on the cusp of cooler weather and some wind in the face miles would be great. What I am proposing is an all day road trip to travel the most back roads to nowhere that Hendry and Collier county have to offer.

We would meet in the morning (about 8:00 AM) at the Cracker Barrel on highway 80 and I-75 and head out to LaBelle and turn south on highway 29. We turn left and go east on highway 832 and do about twenty miles of the most desolate highway in Florida. Absolutely no buildings, telephone poles, or power lines. Absolutely no infrastructure at all and I don't think there are any cell phone towers out there either. It ends at highway 833 and we would turn south where it becomes Lemon Grove Rd. When we pass through the Seminole Indian Reservation it becomes Snake Rd. Florida's own Snake highway. It continues all the way to the eastern half of Alligator Alley and we would turn west on I-75 back to highway 29 and turn south and head for Everglades City for lunch. From there we would leave, separate and head for home.

Propose this for a Saturday in November. Any interest?

    Oh that sounds like fun......

but as the weather gets nicer, the more of our northern residents start to arrive, and the harder it gets to take time off of work for me..... gah

    vicious cycle

I'd be very seriously interested, it sounds like a fun day of driving. Obviously Sat the 7th is out as there is a Dawn Patrol and Auto-X. I have an big aquarium club meeting/auction/BBQ in Venice the following Sat the 14th, so if that's the date I'm out. The 21st works for me. The 28th is OK as well, but that is the Sat after Thanksgiving, so probably not a good fit for many.

Sounds like fun. I can pack all my survival equipment as we trudge into the wilderness.

The 21st sounds like a date everyone can adjust their schedules to. Jay, what field do you work in? Hospitality? (i.e. hotels, property management?)

    Who wants to sign up?

    1) Minuteman
