    Road Trip

I'm going to the Track Night in America event at Palm Beach International Raceway on Thursday the 9th of April. Gates open at 3pm and on track stuff starts at 4pm. I know this is a week day and most people work. And it's a 2-3 hour drive there and back. But if anybody is interested in riding with me, or forming up a small caravan, I'm game.

I want to see this in person one time before I commit $150 for an entry and $250+ for an SCCA legal helmet. There is a 'Pace Lap Session' open to anybody with a street legal car, passengers allowed and no helmets requires.

Palm Beach Int'l has Track Nights scheduled for the next 5 months I believe. Maybe one of the up coming events will work out better. If this turns out to be worth the $150, I can see me doing it once a month for the next 4 months.

Let me look into it more … I might be interested in something like this for my birthday coming up in May….

What are the requirements on helmets? I've got a shoei rf1000, but I'm assuming you need something specific and/or newer.

*Edit - Googled and I'm assuming you need an SA rated helmet? Pretty sure mine is just M rated.

Had quite a few since then. Oh to have an estate and the time to work on beasts like that. Would also work on old planes since I started out studying aeronautical engineering.

M is generally accepted provided it's 2005 standard for track nights and PDX stuff.

The SCCA website says this is the required helmet for Track Night (and I think it's the same for PDX):

Helmets certified as meeting the most current or the two most recent applicable Snell, FIA, or SFI standards are acceptable.

    Acceptable standards include:

    Snell ratings: SA2010, SAH2010, SA2005, SA2000, M2010, M2005, M2000, K2010, K2005, and K98

    SFI ratings 31.1, 31.1A, 3.12, 31.2A, 31.1 2005, 41.1, 41.1A, 41.2, 41.2A, 41.2 2005 and 24.1,

    FIA: 8860-2004, 8860-2010

    Re: Road Trip

The sticker is gone off mine, but looking it up online it's a M2000. You can borrow it if you want. You can find some real nice helmets on craigslist from people that bought bikes and never rode them. That's where I got mine.
