Right To Repair
Really interesting, short documentary about Nebraska farmers demanding the right to access the diagnostic software for the John Deere tractors they own. The implications not only drew the ire of Apple and Microsoft but also affect the consumer products and vehicles we own.

The corporate greed is unreal these days. Hope the movement catches on.

I agree with scott
plus, it would help them sell more equipment if they supported those who have to work on their own stuff (so I think)

Re: Right To Repair
My friend in St Pete spends a stupid amount of money on software, just to be able to access the car's systems.

Re: Right To Repair
I was really surprised to see Apple and Microsoft lawyers at some obscure court hearing in a po-dunk town over farm equipment but I guess that shows how big this intellectual property issue is. I hear YouTube pulls videos you have copyrighted music in the background.
I think it is preposterous to require a farmer load up a six-ton combine and truck it to a John Deere repair facility for what's basically an OBD-II diagnostic. Deere should make a consumer-grade, handheld diagnostic device for its customers to plug in and diagnose the problem or upload firmware updates.
