Hello all. Longtime lurker or "forum voyeur." I wanted to introduce myself long ago but have been busy or distracted with life. Here is the perfect opportunity to start.

Here is my 1990 Mazda Miata:


Second owner. I bought it from a little old lady. The car was originally purchased in North Carolina. They moved to SWFL somewhere around '95-'96 and brought the miata with them. I saved my tips so I could eventually buy a civic but luck struck and I came across this RWD that I never knew I needed. Bought and signed the title the first day and picked it up a few days later. It was a rather impulsive decision seeing that the car had a relatively high mileage (150xxx miles) and was really old but it was worth the risk. First manual car ever.

I've learned a lot during my ownership and I'm glad to be able to work on it and always have it ready to drive the next day. It has been very reliable for its high mileage and hasn't really given me any major issues. There are still many things I would like to address such as the wiring and hidden rust (mostly on the passenger side foot-well plate). In the meantime I will continue to enjoy this fun roadster. Hope to learn more from this experienced group. Many questions inbound.

Now that's what i'm talking about! Welcome! Lots of experience and talent here local and distant and we are always willing to help. There is a lot of material we have accumulated over the last ten years here and if you can't find it just ask. We are not what we used to be and some members have moved on, but we still have a few tech days and we should have a group drive we call Dawn Patrol soon. This clip is from our glory days traveling to Miatapalooza 2011.



At 150,xxx miles, it's just broken in. My NB has 182,xxx miles and the engine has never been apart except for cleaning the upper intake manifold and throttle body and I have driven it hard at the Tail of the Dragon and the Snake. Looking forward to meeting you and your MX5.

You should definitely try to make it out to a Dawn Patrol run next time one gets set up. It's a blast of a drive and you'll get to see the kind of roads you didn't think existed in Florida.

You were very fortunate that the previous owner took good care of it. I'm the old man and I learned to drive in a 38 Chev coupe and to this day prefer to drive manual transmission cars.

Welcome. Whenever that short nose motor gives up the ghost, consider upgrading to a 1.8. There are those of us that can help and like to get bloody and greasy. Definitely make it to the next Dawn Patrol. It's the most fun ride to breakfast you'll have in SW FL.
